Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate your Mother/Mother figure in your life, as well as a time to reflect on our own journey as a Mom. You probably all have a copy of this but I thought I’d share just in case. I keep this by my bed because sometimes in the craziness of daily life it’s nice to have a reminder to be present.
If I Had My Child to Raise Over Again
If I had my child to raise all over again,
I’d finger paint more, and point the finger less.
I’d do less correcting, and more connecting.
I’d take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I would care to know less, and know to care more.
I’d take more hikes and fly more kites.
I’d stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I’d run through more fields, and gaze at more stars.
I’d do more hugging, and less tugging.
I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.
I’d build self-esteem first and the house later.
I’d teach less about the love of power,
And more about the power of love.

Let me introduce myself. I’m the mom of two and among other things run monogrammed-gifts.com, a website for personalized and inspirational gifts. Here on our blog our intention is to help you celebrate. We will share some of the best party tips, family traditions, gift ideas as well as other random fun stuff. During the blog party I’d love to connect with other bloggers who might want to sharing how their family celebrates everything from kids birthdays to Thanksgiving dinner with our readers.
I think starting the blog party today on April 9th is fitting because it’s a month before Mother’s Day. I’d love to hear about your favorite mom moments. For me when I listen to my kids creating, using their imagination to tell a story it just melts my heart. There’s so much going on in those little minds I love when they come out with something spectacular. A silly example is as we were driving in the car today my five year old asked to go to CVS. My response was that it’s not on our to do list today we have some things to get done. Well he asked to see the list and then handed it back to me a few minutes later. When I looked down there it was CVS, written backwards for extra cuteness. Now it was on our to do list! To celebrate Mother’s Day hopefully the sun will be shining and a nice walk with my family is how I’d love to celebrate. Oh and honey if you’re listening a Mother’s necklace would be nice too!

I love holidays! In our house we are getting ready for Easter, which falls next Sunday April 4th. As my husband and I start our own family, it’s fun to combine our childhood family traditions and make them our own. One of my favorite Easter traditions is the egg hunt. When I was little the Easter Bunny would leave little chocolate eggs all over our house. It was quite the competition starting at the top of the stairs on Easter morning to see who could gather the most eggs. Now it’s fun to watch my children take part in this fun Easter tradition. As our family grows we like to add new traditions to the mix every year. I’d love to hear how you celebrate Easter at your house. What are your favorite family traditions for the Easter holiday? What does the Easter Bunny leave in your Easter basket?

Now that Valentine’s Day is just 14 days away, symbols of love are popping up everywhere. Just what are these symbols and what is their meaning? 
Well cupid, that cute little devil, is always associated with love and according to dictionary.com cupid is “the ancient Roman god of love and the son of either Mars or Mercury and Venus, commonly represented as a winged, naked, infant boy with a bow and arrows.” Ahh cupid I’ve been struck by your arrow, thanks for that!
Other symbols we tend to see associated with love and especially around Valentines are roses heart, love knots and…an apple. Who knew? Maybe that’s why I love apples so much!
